HOUSTON – Setting up a new growth trajectory, NewQuest has named 20-year veteran Matt Parsons as executive vice president and managing director of tenant representation.
In the newly created role, Parsons will lead NewQuest’s tenant representation platform, bringing strategic vision and senior leadership to grow the division. He will be recruiting, mentoring and managing a team of brokers in Texas while continuing to serve clients directly as a senior producer.
“We have been focused on growing all aspects of NewQuest with an emphasis on key leadership. Our firm has been a leader in retail tenant representation in Texas for more than 25 years. Matt’s addition marks an exciting step in our efforts to take the platform to the next level,” says Austin Alvis, president and chief development officer of the full-service Houston-based commercial real estate firm.
Parsons’ appointment reflects NewQuest’s commitment to build a nationally competitive tenant advisory platform, complementing its longstanding reputation as a best-in-class Texas commercial real estate firm and developer. Known for his client-first approach and collaborative leadership style, Parsons has built a reputation as one of the region’s most trusted retail advisers.
“Matt is a professional’s professional. The depth of trust he has built with his corporate clients during his career is remarkable,” Lane says. “His instinct for leading teams and driving culture is exactly what we want at the leadership table. Having him alongside us as we grow this platform is genuinely exciting for our team and clients.”

It is presently under construction on the $400 million Texas Heritage Marketplace in Katy and $90 million Grand at 249 in Tomball, both of which are reshaping retail corridors in their respective markets. The 2026 development pipeline includes a 544-acre mixed-use project
in South Central Texas as well as ongoing expansions at multiple retail centers in the developer’s portfolio.
“NewQuest is a powerhouse development company. I’m excited to be part of the future here,” Parsons says. “The company’s construction pipeline, investment platform and asset expertise changes the conversation for clients by creating opportunities to grow in ways that transcend a traditional brokerage relationship.”
Parsons most recently was executive vice president at JLL. His expertise spans all facets of commercial real estate, but he is most widely recognized for his deep market knowledge and relationships in the retail sector. His career includes stints at Phillips Edison & Co. in Ohio and CBRE in Houston.
