Sr. Corporate Accountant

Title: Corporate Accountant / Sr. Corporate Accountant (Commensurate with experience)

NewQuest; Houston, TX

Candidates must have a working knowledge of accrual and cash basis accounting practices, policies, and procedures. Ideal candidates must have excellent Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills, possess experience with modern accounting information systems, and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook. He/she will possess knowledge of financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and be able to participate in special projects and analyses upon request. The candidate should be self-motivating, possess attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, and have the ability to work autonomously. The candidate should be flexible with a willingness and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Duties

· Preparation of corporate/overhead financials and advanced reporting

· Perform monthly journal entries; develop a deep understanding of our General Ledger

· Maintain significant confidential information

· Process and record leasing and brokerage commissions, management fees, and intercompany reimbursements

· Prepare advanced analysis schedules

· Perform variance analysis

· Perform software system setups—new entities, workflows, chart of accounts entries, bank accounts, and other software setups, primarily within accounting and accounts payable systems

· Assist with the development and implementation of new tools, workflows, and reporting methods

· Assist with property acquisitions and dispositions

· Process bank deposits

 

Skills traits, capabilities, and experience

· Full charge bookkeeping/accounting experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required

· Excel spreadsheet proficiency; advanced competency in spreadsheet work

· Excellent spelling and grammar

· Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task

· Able to set priorities and meet deadlines

· Attention to detail and proofreading is a must

· Must be a team player and able to get along with many personalities

· He/she is teachable and willing to learn new systems and processes in an organization that is growing

· Ability to work full-time hours in an open office environment
