March 14, 2017

For Immediate Release March 2017

The 2017 Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce Banquet & Awards Ceremony was held Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Heritage Center, at Dell Diamond. During the evening, the Chamber honored those Individuals and Businesses whose accomplishments go above and beyond expectations. This year’s award categories included Large Business of the Year (greater than 25 employees, Small Business of the Year (less than 25 employees) and Contributor of the Year.

The recipients were:

Large Business of the Year – NewQuest Properties’ Stone Hill Town Center. This Business has been an active Chamber Investor since 2010 and has contributed to the economic welfare and growth of Pflugerville through their development and investment of capital in Pflugerville. They have attracted numerous businesses, restaurants and jobs to the Pflugerville community and in doing so, is likely the City’s single largest generator of tax revenue for the last ten years.

Small Business of the Year – Pecan Street Station – Deli & Grill. Pecan Street Station is a homegrown business that has been in Pflugerville since the year 2000. The Business started in the central business district and became so popular that they build their current location in 2008. Pecan Street has continued to be a great community gathering place for sharing fellowship while getting a bite to eat.

Contributor of the Year – The Storehouse. From a storage unit in 2003, Founders Jack and Sandra Cochrun set out with a simple mission: to provide food, encouragement and hope to anyone in need. No one is turned away. Fourteen years later, this compassion-without-compromise mentality is still what drives their daily mission. In 2016 alone, over 7700 families were provided over 300,000 pounds of food and over 800 families per month were served.

In addition, Perry Sanford, 2016 Board Chair, presented the 2016 Chair’s Award to Coletta Haskin. Coletta became a Chamber Investor a few short years ago but through her unique “calm” style has continually made outstanding contributions to the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, as she served on the Investor Services Department, became Co-lead of the Ambassador Program and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2016.
