NewQuest Properties will break ground this spring on a second phase of Katy Grand after securing commitments from Kinokuniya, 85C° Bakery Café and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar.
The new phase will add two buildings totaling 36,000 square feet to the Cinemark-anchored retail center at the northeast corner of the Grand Parkway and the Katy Freeway. The second phase will add add 7.4 acres to the initial 21.7 acres near the University of Houston’s upcoming Katy campus.
Japanese-based Kinokuniya has preleased 4,000 for its first location in the Houston market. The store will sell books, stationery and gifts.
85C° Bakery Café has leased 2,800 square feet for its first drive-thru location in the local market. The coffeehouse chain opened its 1,000th location worldwide last year on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar has leased 3,500 square feet for its second area location.
“We are creating a crossroads of culture for international dining and shopping experiences,” NewQuest development partner Heather Nguyen said in an announcement.
“We’ve been quietly working hard to attract new restaurants and specialty retail brands to greater Houston.”
Heather Nguyen and Rebecca Le are pre-leasing the project. The buildings are scheduled for completion in late fall.
